AGO with the Swedes

On Sunday, we hit up the AGO.
Man. that place is overwhelming.

This is my favourite piece in the place. or maybe my favourite piece of art that i've ever seen in real life.

Here's what the AGO website says about it:

"Winner of a $50,000 prize, David Altmejd is a Montreal-born artist living in New York. He made international headlines in 2007 when he represented Canada at the Venice Biennale with The Index. The complex work features a number of connected wood and steel structures filled with flocks of stuffed birds and squirrels as well as half-human, half-bird bodies throughout. The installation is surrounded by mirrors to make the viewer a part of the experience."

The creepiness is just SO consistent. every angle of it is like you're in some deranged nuclear fallout forest, it makes me feel like it's real and i'm make-believe... does that make sense?

Here's some close ups of the birds.

While stalking this guy on the internet to find these photos i came across theselby.com... if you love to admire the work and personalities of the artistic - you might like it.

Man, i wish liking birds wasn't so fucking hip these days.
