2. Local Crafts and Gifts
This Friday (5-8pm) and Saturday (10am-3pm) there is a sale happening at the Queen St. Commons (i.e. working centre's cafe). Pottery, herbal products, jewellery and more handmade local stuff. Thanks to @wendyhoomo for the heads up.
3. Scones.
Ok, I know this sounds a bit crazy – but Dana Shortt in Waterloo does this thing – where you can buy a wheel of unbaked scones…. And then you just bake’em. $17.98 - wheel of 8 large scones. What a great gift. Who doesn’t like a freshly baked scone?
4. COFFEE.
As I’ve been hinting around, I hung out with the guys from Eco-CafĂ© on Saturday – these guys provide fair trade, rainforest saving, organic coffee to the region and we should all be buying their beans. If you are on my “buy a gift for you” list… you will be getting this: the most horrible used mug you’ve ever seen, courtesy of VV, with amazing, freshly roasted coffee beans inside. You can thank me later. Buy Online. or Pick the beans up at any of THESE LOCAL retail locations.
5. For Babies.
haha. found here. $22
and these little gems are found at Athletic Direct in Market Square, kitchener. $20

Great ideas, Hilary!
ReplyDeleteSorry for a bit of a shameless plug, but here are a few more suggestions...
Laurier students:
Check out the GREEN STORE in the Concourse today and tomorrow (24 & 25) for lots of great ideas for socially-responsible gift giving. We have vendors from all over the K-W region with lots of cool stuff to check out. Ten Thousand Villages is there, Seven Shores Cafe, Peace for All International, this cool aromatherapy lady, WLU Farmer's Market is out there too, plus a bunch more that I can't remember right now! How lovely...supporting local business AND giving kickass unique gifts.
Thanks again for posting this, Hil. Definitely gonna check some of those out.
