You can't deny it people. Some serious shit is incubating in this town.
Last night a couple new friends and i got together courtesy of Marty F and Gowlings on Queen St. and after some drinks - someone had a good idea! A culture club (for lack of a better name) that is inclusive and inviting for people with a common goal to meet up once a month, take in something cultural and then discuss over refreshments. COME. ON! This has serious potential. Here's the details on the first event:
Time: December 23, 2009 from 6pm to 9pm
Location: KWAG & Artbar
What: Equal parts art (the current KWAG exhibit is "Building Berlin", the exhibit inside Artbar is by Jack Jackowetz) and fundraiser for the food bank of waterloo region.
And after this one? Subsequent events will be up to the group to decide (so get involved early to have your say) and we'll be actively trying to bring out friends and family to events. Yes, this is an initiative to have fun and to help build audiences to local cultural events.
Full details and RSVP is here, it's free to attend, but bring cash to donate to the food bank, in return for some food & drink.
Have questions, lemme know.

ReplyDeleteThis all sounds so timely and very exciting. I've been told more than once that this is the time and the place fro extraordinary things to happen. There are so many things going on in KW Cambridge which will drive our communities to fully realize the potential of our cultural and creative assets. Its about connecting people and new ideas (and having some fun in the process wouldn't be so bad) and in so doing we can build an amazing brand as an extraordinary, appealing and livable creative community. Which in turn will attract more creative people...etc and so it goes. Which ultimately makes for a prosperous and sustainable place where really smart, informed and engagegd people make good decisions about the future (of the world!).
I'm in for that project! And we'd love to see KW|AG be an important part of that network of people and resources.
Bravo to last nite's organizers and participants.
Cheers
