On Saturday, P and I were supposed to hit up the Canadian Clay and Glass “Bee keeper’s masked ball”… it started at 8pm, but we had a bunch of shit to do, so were were planning on getting there around 9:30.
When we pulled up behind the gallery, we could see into the event – which was… full of professional dancers in medieval costume.
I’m not gonna lie – we got a little freaked out.
Really wanted to go, but we just couldn’t see ANY people not dressed up! It was crazy! And, we couldn’t see anyone with a drink – which was perhaps the scariest part.
So yeah, we chickened out. Whatever.
We decided to salvage the night/the fact I was wearing a dress – and headed to The Bauer Kitchen for a drink and a bite to eat.
Duck Confit pizza with Stilton Cheese and Pear and a Gimlet – hello!
The only problem with the place is the crowd. Wtf.
Where are all the interesting people in this city hanging out? I can only stomach the Starlight/Jand Bond scene a couple times a year, so don’t tell me it’s there.
Don’t even try to tell me they’re at Tyrone T’s – because we headed there to investigate after. And it was a MASSIVE disappointment. That place is brutal. WORST. MUSIC. EVER.
So tell me readers,
I know you’re interesting (or at least have interesting moments)… where do you hang out?
H.
PS. In retrospect, we should have just gone into the C2G2 - check out some photos from it, by one of the contributors to Waterloo Insider, HERE.
Regarding the CCGG Ball - Yeah, it was scary after entering, but as the night went on there were more people in non-costume attire. The dancing got more laxed later on in the evening (I didn't even bother dancing the fancy stuff at the beginning of the ball).
ReplyDeleteWe hit the Bauer Kitchen for brunch this weekend and we were totally underwhelmed. I am a bit of a food snob but when the poached eggs are cold and the hollandaise is congealed you just shouldn't serve the damn food.
ReplyDeletePretty space but like most Charcoal Group restos, substandard food and above average prices. I'd call the BK a big miss in my books.
Hey guys, thanks for the comments.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that the food is pretty hit or miss... first time i was there, food was weak, next 2 times were great, 4th time the salmon sandwich was WEAK. so... i don't know. they need to work on consistency maybe.
H.
The only places I ever go at the Starlight, Jane Bond, and Ethel's, so don't look to me for advice, but I'm glad to know that my reading of Tyrone appears to be correct. I will continue with my plans to never ever go there.
