I know it may seem like I've got a hate-on for W right now, but I really don't.
I'm sure Kitchener will be back in the spotlight before they know it - but I just had to post this.
The city of waterloo is launching this it's your waterloo campaign to discourage young people from public urination. If you DO get caught 'draining the main vein', as they say, you will be ticketed for $300... and as the poster points out... that is the approximate cost of 10 cases of beer.
Seriously? there are enough people whipping it out on in quaint uptown that this is necessary?
Maybe I'm sheltered, but i have never actually seen ANYONE pee in the streets of waterloo... kitchener yes, but that's part of the city's charm, right?
So welcome home students, thank you for choosing our great city to be your home for at least 4 years, thank you for spending thousands of dollars (earned or borrowed) in our local economy and lastly, thank you for not peeing publicly.

ReplyDeleteI've peed on the streets - well, pretty close to it... definitely in some business parking lots behind what you think is a bush giving you coverage, but you're drunk so what do you know... you wake up the next day to realize you were squatting beside a rock in the open air just with your back to ppl (note to self: just because you can't see them, doesn't mean they can't see you - they definitely can).
ReplyDeleteAnd, I think it's safe to say that the majority of the ppl I knew in university also peed outside on the streets... Mind you, later on we took to knocking on random student houses and just going in to use their facilities on our way home... it's usually not appreciated unless you catch them SUPER drunk or high in which case they can hardly believe it's happening...
On that note, I dragged my friend Shelly across University Ave. once because she needed a bathroom and we went to some random's place... then she PASSED OUT on their toilet! THAT was awkward... I probably shouldn't have used her name... ah well... she doesn't read this blog yet anyway...
This is why I should never comment on things... no self control :)
By the way... I'm NOT looking forward to the students coming back... I love Uptown... I just don't love them anymore...
