So, i was feeling less than enthusiastic about CAFKA... but then i saw the amazing piece in Victoria Park ... and everything changed, sigh... so magical.
Kidding aside, the installation in the park is fucking awesome. pics to come later today.
So... after some Roshy dinner with my parents, we met up with Art|bar and friends and checked out the CAFKA Opening Post-Party at the Zero to One studios above King St.
Lots of fun - art was... interesting...

Any party with an indoor art piece/swing set has me sold, the men with painted on jeans almost deterred us, but we made it through. I think there's some confusion over what CAFKA is, what the point is, and why we don't have any of our really amazingly fantastic local artists showing off their stuff.. but more importantly, it all caused some heated debate over art back at the ranch - and that's the idea right? right?
I'm pretty sure it is.
Gareth Lichty kind of summed it up like this... artists go to art galleries, that's what they like to do, most people don't go... so there's a need
to bring the art out into public places for people to see in their own, more comfortable environment.
Makes sense.
If this banged out semi-review makes you want to check this shit out - then pick up one of the cafka books from city hall or the tannery on victoria and then you can see some art and impress all your friends back at the office.
