Flight Simulation... and e-waste.

So, I met Don at the Kwartzlab 5+5 event... and we started chatting about how he runs an e-waste facility in the Boehmer Box Building as well.

Then, he mentioned that he was working on building a FLIGHT SIMULATOR!
Obviously, we had to go check it out.

Here's the tour:

And... the flight simulator in development.

Loved it. Can't wait to check it out when the exterior is complete and there's a seatbelt or two!
Very cool though. Totally felt weightless, the thing will fully rotate when done.

Here's a vid of how it moves.

Don accepts donations of anything electronic. He then repairs anything that can be repaired and resells it... he sorts all of the stuff and sells parts to anybody looking for them. He recycles or dumps everything else that is un-usable.

People end up donating a lot of other random stuff, which i find fairly fascinating.

There is a massive amount of stuff in this place. You wouldn't even believe it.
I personally think that every school class should have to take a trip here,
it really shows you how wasteful and ridiculous our society is. We throw
shit out and think it disappears. It doesn't.

Bladerunner, much?

Don in his sweet office. What an interesting guy.
Lives in a sphere in Bloomingdale. Not kidding.
Note to self: Boehmer Box Building is the first stop for supplies when shit goes down.

A random Canoe that someone donated. If you want it, call Don.
He wants to get rid of it.

If you want to check out this space... or donate anything electronic,
head to the Boehmer Box Building, 283 Duke St. W at Breithaupt st.

H.

PS. I met a new friend named Dinh last night, who was talking some more profesh pics than these snaps, so stay tuned, they will hopefully be coming through today.
